How LED Strip Lighting Was Always Supposed to Look

The dotted, uneven appearance of conventional SMD LED tape was a limitation of the technology — not an intended design choice. COB (Chip-on-Board) strip lights solve this fundamentally: instead of individual LED packages spaced along a circuit board, thousands of micro-LEDs are mounted directly into a continuous phosphor substrate, producing an unbroken line of light with no visible source points. The result looks like a luminous surface, not a string of lights.

Installation Tip

COB strips look significantly better in aluminum channel diffusers than bare-mounted. The channel provides heat sinking that extends LED life, while the diffuser cover creates a smooth, polished light slot. It's a modest additional cost that meaningfully elevates the final installation quality.
